June 5, 2026: Today, GRAMMY®, TONY®, and EMMY® Award-winning icon Barry Manilow releases What A Time, his first album of nearly all-original material in almost 15 years.
Produced by Manilow and longtime collaborator Michael Lloyd, What A Time is Manilow’s 33rd studio album and his first nearly all-original LP since 2011’s 15 Minutes, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. The album brings together an eclectic, cross-generational group of collaborators, including Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, nine-time GRAMMY® winner Dave Cobb, and prolific songwriter Gary Barlow. The result is a collection that pairs Manilow’s signature songwriting with influences ranging from orchestral pop and ballads to R&B, heartland rock, and gospel. Listen to/order What A Time HERE.
“What A Time… it’s a collection of songs that feel really alive to me right now. They reflect where I’ve been, where I am… and a lot of what I still want to say,” says Manilow in a statement on social media HERE. “Each one’s got its own story, its own emotion… but when you put them all together, they really reflect a lifetime of songwriting, and all the different styles I’ve loved working in.
The album opens with “Once Before I Go,” an epic love song executive-produced by Clive Davis and co-written by Dean Pitchford and the late Peter Allen. Featuring a sweeping string arrangement by William Ross, the track highlights the emotional resonance and vocal command that have defined Manilow’s work for generations. The song debuted on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and reached the top 10 on Mediabase’s AC chart, and its accompanying music video — filmed at the Westgate Las Vegas, home to Manilow’s long-running and record-setting residency — offers an intimate glimpse inside a venue that has become synonymous with his enduring live success. Widely regarded as one of the most successful touring artists of all time, Manilow has also set the lifetime performance record at Radio City Music Hall, further cementing his status as a live entertainment powerhouse.
What A Time showcases both Manilow’s classic songwriting strengths and his continued willingness to explore new creative territory. “Sun Shine” glitters as a radiant, feel-good single written by Manilow and Gary Barlow and produced by Manilow, David Benson and Greg Bartheld. Retaining the wistful core of the original recording, “Another Life – 2026” explores the distance between former lovers as one struggles to come to terms with a relationship’s end. Today’s focus track, “Don’t Trouble The Water,” offers a soothing message of reassurance and escape, urging listeners to set aside life’s worries, embrace the present moment, and find comfort in the promise of calmer days ahead.
